Podcast comments are a great start, but I am personally desperate for the drama when Zillow finally opens the comment section on their listings

Re: period dramas, depends on what era you like but my favourite hidden gems focused on 20th century are BBC’s ‘The Hour’ and ‘The House of Eliott’ from the 90s.

Also liked your note on liking how people these days dress. I’m 31, and when I see young people these days I actually feel they’re all dressed so unique and cool compared to my generation at the same age. You were literally bullied for not wearing the exact same as everyone else?! There is way more diversity and fun with clothes now it seems. I was in niche subcultures when I was a teen but even then the styles within those didn’t vary as much as what I see today in the mainstream. (I’m also having way more fun with clothes myself… I feel it’s never been a better time to genuinely express yourself!)

I haven't heard of either of these so thank you so much. sometimes I think I've watched very period drama ever and I get so sad. alsoooo you're second point! I completely agree and I think it's a perspective thats missing in so much of the "modern subcultures or lack thereof" discourse. there's never been a better time to just be you and I find it so refreshing. sure many micro trends come and go but its all fun and experimentation!!!

LOVE the idea of drug Olympics. Let’s see how far these bodies can go! As long as everyone is aware of the consequences, or is aware that there could be consequences currently unknown, I say why not. I’ll be watching until I get grossed out.

My mom and I were JUST talking about how much we love Outlander this morning. I was lucky enough to hear Diane Gaboldon speak at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC several years ago and, even though I had no idea what her books were about (imagine my surprise when I eventually got around to reading it and Claire time travelled), I LOVED the way she talked about her characters and their lives. Completely changed the way I approach writing fiction. Also I’ve recently joined the large community of people who think Jamie is the only man for them… tres tragique :(

wait lol too many funny things in this comment 1.) the irresponsible part of me also wants a drug olympics hehe 2.) I havent read the books yet. (so daunting!)but this makes me really want to 3.) you write?!! 4.) you need to explain this Jamie thing haha. who are these people?

The books are soooo long and there’s a lot of them so I don’t blame you for not reading them. I check out the audiobooks on Libby (be prepared for a four month wait if you decide to check them out) and then listen to them on like x1.5 speed bc they’re so dense. I don’t think they’re a must read, but at least the first book is very well written, very well researched, and the audiobook narrator is awesome (that’s all I’ve read). I’ve also really enjoyed what I’ve seen of the show. Great quality, a history I have literally no understanding of (can’t say “well that’s historically inaccurate” if I don’t know nothing abt anything), awesome acting, and both leads are incredibly attractive. The aforementioned Jamie Frasier is the male lead and love interest. Just an earnest, smart, protective Scottish Highlander who is head over heels in love with his stubbornly independent, whip-smart, time-traveling-nurse wife. So, you know. The usual.

I fancy myself a writer except that you have to, like… write… to do that. In reality I go into some kind of bene gesserit trance about once a month and scribble madly in my notes app for 45 minutes and then go about my day. Surely, though, if I buy another journal, I’ll be motivated to write. Surely, surely surely.

I don't understand the Brandy thing of opening stores without advertising that it's their store. Is that a thing with other companies? Why do they do that?

haha okay so this girl called Charlie XCX released an album called Brat. It's a banger. Club banger specifically. So everyone is like brat summer to embody the energy of those albums pretty much. like young and free and out on the town and messy kinda vibe

Have you seen Indian Summers?? (BBC Masterpiece, I think my mom subscribes through her Amazon Prime account). If you'd be interested in a colonial-era India drama, lush & beautifully filmed with plenty of social drama and political upheaval then you might enjoy this from 2015, there are two seasons. The settings and wardrobe alone are worth it! None of my friends have seen or heard of it but mom mines for hidden gems :-)
