I don't know why I had some hope that the auramaxxing was a positive supportive kinda trend for young guys but then nope: "auramaxxing content online is rife with misogyny" and also it puts more expectations onto young men to be perfect.
Thanks for the roundup. I have so many cool tibits to share with colleagues and friends now.
10/10 for sensibility. Could not agree more! If you donโt like the show, change the channel. Agency! Also I love this roundup and Iโm happy substack surfaced your nl to me
โThe business of fashion? Hot. The culture of trends? Also hot. A bunch of links to buy an aesthetic? Not so much. You know I always say that agency is sexy. This is me reminding you to use it.โ
On noticing that beauty and skincare brands have been emphasizing how long product development took them - Iโm reminded of hearing Gucci Westman on a podcast saying that it took 5 years to develop her โcleanโ lipstick. Mostly because the technology needed to catch up to where she wanted the formula to be. Kind of astounding! Loved this newsletter and great eagle eye in noticing the resemblance between Starface and Maybelline.
Wow thatโs vision right there. I donโt think a lot of these brands emphasizing the development time are doing it for that reason though. Because I mean itโs usually nothing revolutionary. I think itโs sort of against the narrative of hyper production and a way to signal quality. Like hey we really thought this through and weโre intentional about it. I think thatโs what they are subtly trying to tell people
Okay, hear me out: I swear by a particular IV drip. I get it once per month. When I feel run down, it does the trick. Maybe itโs in my head! Itโs also way cheaper where I live than in Hollywood or NYC.
It has B12 and D in it plus other stuff. Itโs not sold as a longevity elixir. Itโs more for people who have vitamin deficiencies (my B12 and D are v v low) and get run down quickly. Itโs also great if youโre not good at hydrating. I swear it helps my immune system, too.
I think itโs different than what the celebs are doing. Still an IV drip, but itโs got a medical purpose. The place I use has nurses running it, so theyโre strict about what you can do and when.
Scott Galloway really opened my eyes to the positive benefits of GLP-1 drugs when it comes to addiction overall, going so far as to predict help for addictive behaviors outside of consumption (food/alcohol/drugs) like gambling and sex. And, what you might have already discussed (I'm new here!), the subsequent effect on the economy when alcohol/soda/addictive sugary food sales no longer dominate in the way they have the past 50 years. As someone with addiction on both sides of my family I find that incredibly compelling, although am still incredibly skeptical of the US health system and permitted usage. It's like with childbirth, women have been doing this since ever without what is now often the dangerous interference of modern medicine - the hospital is for emergency medicine, giving birth is not an emergency, but in the US it is now a commodity of sorts so we are told we need to be in the hospital where births are controlled and scheduled with drugs that can cause complications. Look how that's going....I wish I had the time to write this out more thoughtfully and explain what I see as a connection but leaving here as-is as food for thought.
these roundups are the sole reason my friends are getting interesting fun facts about random companies. they are very appreciative (i hope)!
I hope they appreciate it too ๐. Thanks for sharing means the world

Whoa! Okay now I want more deets. So does it make you feel energized? Is it sold as a longetivity thing? Thanks for sharing ๐

Again thanks for sharing. So is it like a different thing then? Because Iโve heard of this too and I know it helps ppl a lot

Iโm new to discord and this was EPIC!
Also I was SHOOK to find out an influencer friend of mine sold over 10K on Amazon Prime day and the pay for that was $140
Thatโs โฆ horribly lower than I would have guessed
Okay thatโs a rip off. I hope she was mad :(
