Hotels > AirBnBs, maybe because fees have gotten outrageous!

Yes especially the cleaning fees when you still get a full list or chores to complete and they still manage to complain to you that you didn't leave X clean enough. Like what is the cleaning fee for???

I really find that annoying too, no wonder people who are just moving on prefer to rent a room.

I also have a lot of questions after reading this! I’d like to give extra love to Viv Chen who is really one of my favorite people on SS. I wonder what it means that I’m in an older demographic 🤔 in any case, I’m happy to be here!

Vulnerable response on why people aren’t dating (I also went on 1 maybe 2 dates this summer)—dating apps have killed dating. They take a lot of fun out of it, and catfishing is so real. I see a lot of pros from them but at the end of the day I think the cons overpower. I actually found myself talking to a lot more strangers this summer than last summer (at bars, neighborhood clubs, etc) but not dates. I’m 27 and it feels like a weird age where 1/4 my friends also here in NYC are getting engaged to long term partners and 3/4 my friends are some level of super single to casually dating (in my boat).

this is so interesting. thanks for sharing!!! the last time I was on the apps was in college, pre covid and the vibes from what I hear were so different. sometimes I think about whether I would have swiped right on my partner- he's so bad at taking pictures. I'm 25, so not far behind you, and I feel that in my friend group as well. also have loads of friends that want to be in a relationship but have completely sworn off apps but are finding it so hard to meet people IRL as well!

My sister taught grade 1-8 for decades. and retired from it decades ago. But even then she'd stopped setting that dreaded September essay topic, "What I did last summer', especially for the older kids. Not all were speaking form the same position of privilege. Some would be remembering riding their new pony or traveling Europe with their parents or winning a national sports competition. Some would be trying to forget looking after a drug addicted parent or working three jobs or getting raped.

That was fun! I'm 72 and have no idea what most of it was about. Because I am a purist I grow my own and use a bong, have you guys any idea what they do to create that vape material? And cigarettes, c'mon, every generation has it's middle finger up to the usual, but really, nicotine is the stupidest choice. Do you guys have a death wish?
