OK, definitely gonna get The Rabbit Hutch now, I had meant to read it but it slipped my mind (also love that you typed the author's name as "Tess Aunty" :) ... and sorry you didn't dig Biography of X, I really liked it! Well, it kind of petered out at the end for me, but I feel like lots of novels do that for me lately--anyway, this is a great post, I look forward to more of these recaps!

Inspired me to return my old loves: Thrillers. Thank you for this beautiful list.

you’re inspiring me to read more than one book a month! but i also wait until the popular book hype is over to read a book! i feel like i can make a rational decision about whether or not i actually liked it without everyone else’s opinions swaying me!

wow i need to read more. this is inspiring. as a franzen fan, in the interim between the summer reads (which i love as a concept), i highly recommend his essays, especially his writing about birds!!

Glad to hear you liked corrections, I want to try out one of his books but not sure if it’s a “the popular one is popular for good reason” situation or a “skip the mainstream one and try this lesser known one” situation.

What do you suggest?

i haven’t read all of his books but i’d say it’s the former situation, honestly. the corrections is brilliant. crossroads is also really, really good. purity was enjoyable and unique but not quite at the same level. my two cents :)

Thanks for the info! I’ll try out corrections first!

I just read Freedom and it’s become my favourite novel of all time. Midway through Purity, it’s kind of bizarre tbh. Will read Crossroads next, but looking forward to Corrections now after hearing everyones thoughts here 🙂

"quiet, introspective novel with a tight cast of characters who make small but significant choices and feel big, confusing feelings" damn okay sold!
