Gasped when this hit my inbox. I wish I had one of those, like, food-bowl-mazes you give to dogs so they don’t eat too fast - but for this newsletter. Once again bringing us such a broad range of business and culture news with such a smart voice and wit. One of these days I’ll have something to actually add to the conversation, but for now, all I can do is sing my praises. This newsletter is my fav summer accessory 👜
looooove heyday. can't believe i'm about to say i'm obsessed with a can of beans, but i'm afraid i am. their positioning was off – even people who shop at whole foods wonder why a can of beans costs $4.50 – but they launched [$6] soups & chili last week, which makes more sense as a meal.
I love Coperni and I think a Gap collab would be risky and fun.
I think it's gonna be hard to translate Coperni into Gap items though. For Doen, it's so easy: floral and eyelet dresses. Already classic Americana in a way.
Coperni is like shiny synthetic mini dresses with twists and cut outs. They'll have to make something that also feels like Gap product.
I think the reason the Peter Do x Banana Republic collab did not sell well was that middle America did not know Peter Do, so curious if a Coperni collab would have the same trappings.
It was odd. I left in 2023, and I worked on the social side, but I've worked on the internet long enough to know that you don't constantly malign a whole audience sector. Gen X did that to millennials — why would we do it to the ones after us? I didn't get it. But, all they see is clicks.
today’s newsletter had me giggling in the eye doctor’s office 🩷 this is the first im hearing of those tin foil hats and i cannot comprehend that it’s not satire
Collapsing over the tin foil hats 🫠🫠🫠canNOT wait to read the arnault article wow. Finally cracked into that 4hr acquired Hermes podcast that everyone was talking about a while ago (took my time, I don’t like podcasts, so sorry for who I am ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and I’m JUST at the lvmh v hermes battle rn so this is perfectly timed TY!! You truly have THE voice for business gossip 🙏
New reader here but immensely glad I stumbled across this! Happy to be here.
Also raising my hand to confess that I too thought Amelia and Gabbriette were the same person. Was deeply confused about how I missed a career pivot and name change for Harry Hamlin’s youngest child
